Last night (saturday) I went to paint a retirement community. Crosswalks, club house parking, visitor parking, resident parking, and employee parking. Upon arrival the prescheduled empty lot was not empty at all, in fact more employees were entering the barricaded lot than leaving. Ater getting grumpy with an employee I discover the management never advised the employees or residents of the scheduled striping job. After getting the lots empty, the sprinklers soak the main lot (because the night shift maintenance foreman was not told to turn off the water). So, I go and paint the upper lot (where all the employees decided to move their cars to). After getting all the cars moved and go bact to the lower lot, I notice the main security gate is closed. I am finally able to locate maintenance and he opens the gate. As I enter the gate, the opener malfunctions and the gate closes after seconds and collapses the side of my BRAND NEW truck. Good news, theyre paying for repairs. Rule of thumb, if the sprinklers are on, the lot is full of cars, and the gate is closed, GO HOME.

Part of the disclaimer in all my proposals: "Customer is responsible for removing any vehicles or other obstructions from work area prior to the scheduled start time. Any time spent on site waiting for, or assisting with, clearing the work site will be invoiced at an hourly rate of $110.00." Never had to enforce this but it is there for just such a circumstance. . . . . . . .
