Can anyone recommend both a brand of machine as well as who to buy it from? I have a client that needs their thermo walks and stop bars re-done (roughly 1,500 lineal feet X 12 inches) and because they were originally done with hot thermo, we can put DuraStripe (catalyzed plastic) on top of them. This isn't something I'd intend on pursuing as an ongoing addition to our product lines, I just figured I could end up owning one of these machines for what it'd cost me to hire it out. Any thoughts/advice would be highly appreciated.

Your profile does not say where you are, but Trantex in Houston is a good place to buy thermo handliners. http://www.trantexinc.com/
Thanks Robert (I'll fill out my profile here shortly...I'm in Seattle. I'm also the guy that invented the Vanguard System fr detectable warnings...www.VanguardOnline.com). Love the forum...last time I saw it (a year or more back) it didn't look like this. Awesome resource!
Welcome to the forum Jon. I have seen Vangargd before. Do you ever show at the Pavement Expo? I did a google search for "thermoplastic handliner" and got a lot of results. I use to by marking equipment from Despensing Technologies somewhere in CA, but I can't find any contact info on them.
Robert, I think I go to every show there is, plus three or four that aren't. Saturday I'll be at the APWA in KC, then NPE East and West sometime in January or February, the World of Concrete expo in Vegas (when I'm not sure), an asphalt show in Orlando, architectural trade shows, shopping center trade shows...I never knew there were so many places to be seen before I invented the Vanguard System, which then brings me to another question (which I'm actually afraid to get the answser on) but...if anyone knows of any good trade shows that I haven't listed that might be the right kind of venue for me to show my stuff...I'd love to hear about them. (And thanks again for the advice on the plastic machine...I haven't a clue what's good bad or indifferent on that kind of thing)
Another option which is a little closer to you is www.linemastereng.com They make a hand liner very much like the Trantex one (it may be the same one) and it seems to be good equipment. We have an older Linemaster hand liner and small trailer with a pre-melting kettle mounted on the kettle (I'm talking small - approx #250 pre-melter). Both work great and these machines (like the Trantex) have a small footprint, are lightweight and very manuverable which makes them great for special markings.
