Last Thursday we were striping a strip mall in a very small Eastern Washington town. It was the first day out for my new (and first) employee. At about 1:00 am we noticed two men cross the other side of the parking lot where my un attended handicapped stencils and white striper were. The men left quickly when they realized they were noticed. We went to the stencils and saw they smeared them around on the asphalt broadcasting white paint everywhere. As I yelled at them they returned explatives and threats. We both called the police and within 2 minutes we had five cruizers on site (both city cops and armed college campus police). The police arrested the men, charged them with drunk and disorderly conduct and third degree gross misdemeanor maliscous mischief. The police cited damages at $250.00 for clean up, took the mens shoes as evidence because they had paint on the and made them walk two miles home in their socks. The next morning I recieved a call from one of the two men, he arranged a meeting and delivered me $250.00 cash for the hours of cleanup we performed. As I did my research, it is a crime in Washington to disturb traffic paint while it is wet and is punishable by law. The law doesnt state whether that is on public or private property. Accur8
