Could anyone who has a website for their striping business please give me an idea of the results that you've had with it. In other words,is it worthwhile in our line of business? I'm strongly considering contacting Don about building one for me but not sure about the results. Any and all replies and/or advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, ACE

Don did mine.I think its a good idea to have one anyways, makes a company look better to some people and its not really that expensive.Just my opinion.

We have had more and more calls because people have googled "striping" and we popped up. I think people put a company on a different level if they have a website. I just do. Not many in our area have websites. We were probably the first and we are first in most searches. It is easy to maintain. I recommend taking a class at a local community college. Just do it. It will pay off. As I learned in Nashville, you need to come up with at least (5) things that you offer customers that your competition does not. A website could be numero uno.

Hmm wonder where you heard that one Not just a sales pitch because I can't work miracles, a web site itself is as good as you make it (send me or anyone lousy information and crummy photos and I can't make it into a great site) BUT these days people expect to see a web site on a business's cards, letterheads etc. AND MAINLY the thing that makes you look the most unprofessional is to have a "off" e-mail address like @aol or @Earthlink address, (that shows you can't afford your own e-mail--well less than $10 a month, so your business looks ...well ...cheap) the only thing worse is @yahoo, or @gmail, or @hotmail (those show you check your mail at the library and can't even afford your own internet service like AOL.) If you have one of those e-mails just leave them off your stuff (cards etc), they do more harm to your image than the benefit you would ever get from those e-mails... think about it... do you ever see a "successful" or "major" business advertised with a @hotmail or @gmail address? So use one and you obviously aren't in a class with the "successful" or "major". Of course the e-mails just come with the web site as a part of the deal but for a web site itself just to use stats for this month through yesterday for a site customer of mine who is in the NE where it's not the "season" in February stats are: 78 visitors who visited 95 times and who viewed 232 pages; down from January (longer -full month) 104,127 and 187 for same categories now remember, this is in a NE state where they have been having crazy weather but generally cold & not the painting season anyway. AND remember this is a "single service" contractor who only does line striping; so it naturally has less traffic; like an on-line store that sells one item compared to a store that sells 100, there's more potential customers for multi-services so this certainly isn't bad for a striping-only site in the NE in Feb.

yeah, a website is good for looking professional and customers can get a window into your business at anytime from anywhere. i personally have not got a lot of jobs solely from my site, but i have had lots of customers look at it and feel better about hiring us. websites are worth it.

Its hard to tell if the web site makes any real difference. I have gotten a few jobs from customers who emailed me directly from the web site. What I think people may be doing is they see the trailer with phone # and web address and go online to sort of check us out you know. Then pick up the phone and call. Only way to know for sure is to ask everyone who calls "how did you here about us".

A web site is great for the cost, but Don I have to question your remark regarding lousy photos. The photo I sent for original site is bad but I have sent replacements at least 5 times over last few months and discussed it over phone several times and as of this morning its still there. Surly your not concerned about payment as my sites paid for up through Sept 08. Remember me?

I have a simple web site, one line in the phone book. The web site landed me a humongous ongoing contract. The p/m did a search and liked what he saw and called. The rest us up to you as a salesman. Mike In-Line

For me, the web site is a must. I didn't think it would generate the response it has, I'm very surprised. Very good tool, for the minimal cost.

Hey Kris that is one of the questions we ask every time we get a call for a estimate. The reason is,then we know where to spend our time and money on advertising. We have a web site it works, we also have a hit tally so we know how many people have looked at the site.

You can not go wrong with a web site for your company. I have had one through Pavement Web for years and for the low price and excellent service it is a great deal. Also remember that for less than $10.00 a month your site will be visible to millions of viewers. I run a simple one line ad in print Yellow Pages with only my name, phone number and site address with links to the internet Yellow Pages which costs me about $35.00 a month. So for $550 a year I am visible to virtually everyone. It only takes one small job a year to recoup my investment. And since I deduct my broadband cable high speed internet as a business expense for advertising, (check your accountant for details) it is a win-win situation. Getting a web site thru Pavement Web and internet Yellow Pages gets me the most bang for my advertising buck.

Websites are a MUST!! I remember laughing at Don many years ago when he would pitch web sites, I was thinking, "we are asphalt guys, we don't need the web" was I wrong. We generate lots of work and credibility from ours. I will also say that PAVEMENT WEB is the best in the business, and the best priced. Its well worth the cost hands down.
