What a hassle-

While trying to do a tricky modification for Robert this morning (more of that hand-coding stuff) I totally fouled up the forums. So all I could do was restore a backup from last night which unfortunately happens in the wee hours so most of your registrations and posts were not backed up. I am still double checking all the settings etc. since it backed up about 1 AM and I was working on it until 2:30. If you have to re-register or repost etc. I and Robert apologize. PHP is a terribly nit-picky programming language and we have decided if he wants any more "tricked out" modifications I'll wait until I can get some advice from someone (probably 17) who knows just what to do. Literally in this stuff one misplaces : or ' and the whole board crashes (that is just what happened I reversed a : and a ' should have been ': and I put ': that's easy on 3 1/2 hours sleep but was fatal to the forums). Again we apologize. You may re-register and go ahead posting. We will also be making manual backups of all forum data from now on before we attempt to do any modification to the forums (believe it or not all he wanted was a link back to the home page of the web site under the title...sheesh...)

I think everything is "good to go" now! The forums appear to be stable and again, if you have to re-register or re-post something I apologize...but at least now Robert has his "return to PLP link at the top Your should be "safe" now in that your registration & posts & any personal settings you do in your profile will be saved from now on (at least before we try anything major) Do note the little "Help" button at the top next to "Home" you can find a lot of info there on all the features of the new forums. They have far more to offer than the old forums PLP was using. Remember, the old forums are not lost as far as we know. It will take Robert a few days to get them back up as an archive, when he does he will post a link from here back to them but you will only be able to read them, not make new posts...(and who would want to since he tried to get everything, everybody asked for here...even pictures & spell check) Again my sincere apologies for anything that you have to re-enter or re-register...technology can bite back sometimes ...thank heavens for the backup we had, even though it was from last night.
