Which Sw waterbourne is the "brightest" I know there are many different types and numbers for their paint and some have that "dull, orange " color to them. Looking for a very brilliant yellow, simular to the Aexcel waterbourne paint. Any help is appreciated.

Jet, Check with the SW mgr. he has a list of the paints and if the yellow listed says Fed spec yellow that means it is the mustard or darker yellow. I personally like this yellow it seems to show up longer on the pavement and if you have to match up with anything done on the roadway it will be the same color. The yellow that is NOT Fed Spec yellow is the brighter yellow. Make your SW mgr call the paint tech line and ask about the colors before you buy it they will give you the answer about the shades. Ooooh ooooh me! I can answer that one! Between $8 and $16 a gallon. It varies according to location, amount used, moon phase, high tide or low tide, your store manager, your rep, distance from the sun. Many factors affect what we pay. After sitting down with my rep this spring, I swear they play "spin the wheel".
I guess I'm really getting plugged at $18.00 / gallon. But then again, I am just starting out, I haven't bought much from them yet and they don't know me from Adam. I suppose it'll get cheaper with volume purchased. Any other suggestions on lowering costs?
Talked to rep and have worked the price to 9.25 for white hotline and 9.45 for yellow hotline per gallon plus tax. I am just starting out and will use only about 300 gallons this year. This pricing is consistent to any Sherwin Williams store. If their is a question I have them call rep (Their Boss!!!!)
You are talking about two different types of paint. But with in Setfast there are over 30 different types of setfast. And Hotline has several different products in its line. Also, you have to take in account the hotline I buy in NJ is not the same as Texas, NC, Michigan. Every region has its own spec of paint and the spec will change the type of paint and price. As far as the Setfast, we are required to use the LOW VOC setfast in the northeast, but the set fast we can use I can buy 4 different grades of paint. Now if I buy 3000 gallons at a time my price is about 9.90 for white. If I buy less the price goes up. My price for Hotline is a little less than the setfast. Promar as far as I know is a type of paint. I tryed it but I felt is was a much lower quality material than the setfast. For the 1.00 less per gallon it just wasn't worth it. Best advise is to find people in you area and ask around, also ask what quantity they are price with. Good Luck. Jim
My local SW has my pricing set at 15.68 a gallon across the board for white or yellow. CR, Oil Base, or Latex....which is total bullsh_t!! I can't understand their thoughts on that. I have gone round and round with the local rep and I am tired of it. Red Oil Base 22.00 a Gal. I am switching to Ennis. I have been using some of their CR and it seems pretty good. No complaints from clients.......and SW has informed me that they are anticipating another increase before the Summer. . BTW I am paying 27% less from Ennis...Delivered. If Ennis was'nt so far away, I'd be about 35% less than SW. If any of you have any input on Ennis' latex paint let me know how it has worked out for you and how it has held up on CT Sealer. Domingo
$8.41 per gallon for white & yellow setfast, $9.00 for blue. No large quanities needed to buy at that price and my SW Rep will deliver any amount to my shop or job site, even 1 pail if i need it. I guess I'm, gettin a pretty good deal !!! I'm new in the business just started in Mar 06.
