Graco...yea GRACO...did I say GRACO ...in case I wasn't clear: GRACO I have nothing against a Titan ( a fine machine ) except the ergonomics and...oh yea...the fan belt... Uh Oh...the text conveyor belt has broken on my browser...no moving text... I prolly played on it too much last night and wore it out... working again...odd
It appears to me that Graco and Speeflo/Titan use the same rolling carriage so I don't think the there is any dif in the ergonomics etc. The fan belt is much easier to replace than a electric clutch. The only dif I see is in the pump. Got to say.......I agree with Don on the hydraulic units if you don't mind the weight of the machine. You can't even feel the pump cycle while striping. The clutch units seem a bit jerky and annoying with the motor revving up and down continuously. What do I know anyhow?
OUCH! No difference in carts! There is a H U G E difference in carts! I could list 30-50 advantages that the Graco "cart" has. Most obvious is to grab a Graco front tire while it is elevated off the ground, and attempt to move it side to side. Next do the same with a Titan/Speeflo, you'll soon get the picture. Do this on any machine in the market. Putting on the same front tire as Graco does not make it the same. The caster mechanism is vastly superior on the Graco's Fat track system. Speeflo's Wide track was simply the addition of the tire. To me balance is important, especially if you are walking, IMO (and in my testing) the worst balanced striper in the market may be the 8900. The front end is Too light. I have seen people add up to 75 pounds to the front end when using a driving devise with Speeflos to compensate. Plus the weight distribution varies more than others with full buckets to empty buckets. If walking, I want a striper to feel the same (or similar), full or empty, throughout the day. I agree replacing a clutch is not cheap, but then again, I have seen hydraulic systems in various shops having hydraulic heads, gear motors, housings and other components being replace. That is not cheap either. There really is no free lunch, if you transfer horsepower, there is wear. I recall some Graco testing on the original LL5000 testing where on 10 life test units the clutch life averaged just under 50,000 gallons. Todays clutches are even better. I do not know anyone that has run 50,000 gallons through one machine. I feel a downside of hydraulic systems is the additional maintence (Hydraulic oil and filter) required by the manufacturers. If done twice per year as recomended by Brand S, i would estimate the yearly costs by service centers at about $250 per year or $1250 every 5 years. None of this additional maintenance is required on direct drive Linelazers. To me, and for day in and day out parking lot work, the LL3900 IV is the best machine in the Graco family and in the market bar none.
Conversly, how many people have had to do major maintenance on the hydraulic systems of their Speeflo / Titan machines? My point being that both machines are excellent machines! I happen to love Graco, Others happen to love Titan. We each have our own reasons for our preference but almost all agree that Graco has the best ergonomics of any striper on the market today.
GRACO what is wrong with this crazy thing From Don: Nothing but your forum code illiteracy at work...for you I fixed it...this time. Just remember: Whatever the code is in the brackets it must have an "open" before the text to be modified and a "close" after. The two will be the same but a "close" tag always has a "/" in front of it... Example (trash letters used for example) [dothis] that's an "open" and [/dothis] that's a "close". The close stops the desired effect like if you just want one word or phrase bold you would have (in brackets) a "b" in front of the text and a "/b" (in brackets) after... In your case you hit the move button and it inserted the open & close, if you had just put your text between them it would have worked, but instead you typed Graco then hit the "move" icon again so it made another set of the brackets. So your text moved but the "leftover" code showed up with it. The easy way would have been to just type Graco, select the text with your mouse then while selected hit the move icon. It would have put the word Graco between the move codes for you. Price for doing the fix: STILL GRACO
